KOS: joint venture launched for managing medical technology in India

The KOS group has recently formed a new joint venture to supply and run advanced medical equipment in Indian hospitals. The company, named Clearmedi, is  controlled for 51% by the KOS group and for 49% by Shashi Baliyan, a well-known Indian doctor who after some 10 years of experience in Britain then returned to India as an entrepreneur. The company has already obtained four long-term contracts of over ten years for oncology services (radiotherapy) and diagnostic imaging in hospitals in the northern part of India: Jindal, Nanded, Meerut and Indore. The first project, which was launched  in September, involved putting in place a radiotherapy program for treating cancer at the Jindal Institute of Cancer and Research in Hisar, in the north-west of India. The oncology centre of the Jindal hospital serves a catchment area of over 7 million people. The initial investment for the KOS group in the Indian operation is in the region of 4 million euro. The company has entered the Indian market with the aim of assessing its potential while its main area of focus remains in Italy.
