Sogefi invests each year an average 2% of its consolidated sales in research activities for the development of new technologies and innovation of the product range. In 2009, the company reported  overall R&D expenses of 18.5 million euros. The company has research and innovation centers in France and United Kingdom.

Sogefi R&D investments are currently aimed at developing new products which contribute to making vehicles more environmentally friendly. The company R&D staff is working on new technologies and new materials in both the filter and the suspension components divisions.

In the filter sector the evolution of engines, especially diesel engines, and the growing need to improve the impact of fuels on the environment, make it essential to research ever more sophisticated products.
In the suspension components sector important joint venture agreements with international partners are involving Sogefi in the development of complete and lighter suspension systems aiming to reduce the total weight of vehicles and lower their environmental impact.
